Hurricane Michael Update

    Manatee County Emergency Management has released the following alert:

    Tropical Storm Michael is expected to become a hurricane sometime on 10/08/2018.It was upgraded at 110 hours to a Category I storm, it is predicted to become a major hurricane sometime Tuesday. Manatee County is predicted to experience hurricane force winds at approximately 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9, 2018. Storm surge for the Manatee County area is predicted to be between 2 - 4 feet. Tornadoes are always possible with tropical storms.

    Please use caution if you are out on the roads Tuesday afternoon. High winds, rain and flooding are possible. Do not drive through a flooded street. As little as one foot of water can float a car. Tornadoes are possible during tropical storms and hurricanes and have occurred in the Lakewood Ranch area. If you have CodeRed on your cell phone and receive a tornado alert, you have only a few minutes to take shelter. Go to an interior room without windows and wait for the all clear.
