I thought we already beat this to death. Apparently not.
We did not. I think we need a drag race down Lorraine to sort it out. Winner gets to choose the speed limit and a ticket from MCSO.
I can feel the love once again in this thread!!
George, you have to be smart enough (i am assuming) to realize that by going over 35, say 45 that you are not exposing anything other than you think it is perfectly ok to break a law, granted 35 may be deemed slow, but why are you not screaming and crying about LWR Blvd ?? I don't really care how fast you drive or anybody else for that matter, i will continue to take up the lane next to someone doing the speed limit and drive the same speed as they are just so nobody can pass us and yes to piss you off...Have you ever seen a body after they were in a nasty car accident ? i have and i hope i never see it again, have seen it way too many times, just drive according to the limits and drive safely. It is that such a difficult thing to do ?? Sad that you think you are above the law...very sad
My life keeps me on Lorraine road all the time, Luby. If a law was poorly created it needs to be corrected. When that same law is used inappropriately by law enforcement, it needs to be addressed.
Luby, it is people like you that can cause road rage incidents. If you want to drive the speed limit that is fine but to act as the "speed police" is just ridiculous. You are just looking to cause a problem and piss someone off ( in your own words ) and some day you could piss off the wrong person and really regret it. The world is full of crazy people and I try not to piss anyone off, you never know what they are capable of if they lose their temper and turn that anger against you.
It won't be corrected by continually breaking it. That's not really civil disobedience and won't solve anything. Now, if you outfit your car with a huge sign saying "Lorraine Speed Limit Too Low" or similar, and then speed, I'd say you are working to affect change. There's a proper way (and better way) to address this issue and that is where you should direct your efforts unless you just want to continue risking tickets. Start a petition to conduct a traffic study or just call for a flat out change. I'll sign it.
On the enforcement side, although I think it is a waste of resources for the MCSO to enforce that particular speed zone, I wouldn't say it is inappropriate. Speeding there is no different than speeding anywhere else and enforcement of traffic laws is part of their responsibility. Can't fault them for doing their job.
Are you honestly saying that you've never broken the speed limit before? Give me a break.
I can't tell you how annoying people are who block the road like you. You have no idea what emergency might be going on in someones life why they are trying to pass you. It's not up to you to decide how fast they go.
So going the speed limit causes road rage ?? Ok...
i break the law of the speed limit all the time on 75, because i have to so i don't get killed by you maniacs that have no clue how to drive down here....it is not up to me but i guess it IS UP TO GEORGE ???
Luby you said that you enjoy pissing people off by not allowing other vehicles to pass. Please don't use my name to change your own words.
this is what i was referring to.... Get over it....
Get over what? Using me to attempt to change what you said. I don't think so.
hahah, get over yourself, you are not that important...
Not clear what you mean by important, but, if you attempt to use me to divert attention from juvenile statements made by you, expect a response.
George, i will leave it at this... you are not that important meaning that the cops or public don't care about your opinion, the law is what it is and if you want to change it do as Bob had mentioned earlier , complaining and flashing lights will never change anything. I was not using your name to change my statement or views other than what i say ids bad but what you say is ok... which again i could care less, you do know what they say about opinions right ?? Anyway, you keep driving the way you drive and i will pray you don't hurt or kill anyone and i will drive my way. have a good day...
Thanks Luby, and I will pray that you don't block someone from passing who suffers from road rage and decides to take their own corrective action. Have a great day!
Thanks but don't worry, i have provisions for that...you have a great day as well...
Of course you would Luby.
Great news for those of us that think the 35MPH speed limit is too slow on Lorraine Road, looks like the county may raise the speed limit to 45MPH. See link below for more information.
It's past due, that's for sure!
Kind of ironic. Radar at the CC this morning right now! Still need to keep those lights flashing. LOL.
i did see someone pulled over today. I guess they are trying to get the last bit of easy cash while they can.
County staff conducted a traffic analysis of "major thoroughfares countywide for consistency of speed limits," according to agenda supplemental documents.
On Tuesday, the commission provided feedback to staff about the recommendations.
The commission decided to not consider a proposed speed increase from 35 mph to 40 mph on Lake
wood Ranch Boulevard between University Parkway to State Road 70.
County Commissioner Vanessa Baugh, who represents Lakewood Ranch, said she's heard a lot of people say they don't want the speed limit to increase.
"Right now, I can't see cars going faster on that section of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard," Baugh said.
I find this really annoying. The staff follows the law, conducts a scientific study, makes a recommendation based on data and state guidelines, and elected officials ignore the entire thing preferring to make decisions based on selected random comments. I'm sure that we can find plenty of people who think a 5 mph increase on the limit for LWR Blvd. would be just fine. I drive 35 mph on LWR Blvd. all the time and find people passing me on a regular basis. They aren't killing children or running into cars on a routine basis...no need for wringing hands and gnashing teeth. Vanessa says she can't "see" cars going faster than 35 mph on LWR Blvd. Well, I see them all the time and, apparently, the state guidelines can see them, too.
Speed limits should not be decided based on how much people will exceed them. They should be based on the highest speed by which the road can be traveled safely. Anyone who thinks that 40 mph is too high for LWR Blvd. is basing that decision on something other than fact, according to the county.
i ALWAYS flash my lights, nothing else works quite as good to slow ppl down that "Think" there is a cop up ahead !!! LOL
