There are cops all over the country club today. I saw this guy, one by the entrance to the club house and one by the four way stop sign as you enter from University. Must need the $$.

You are only a target if you are speeding

If only that were true, Jim. Sadly, here in Manatee County that is not the case. It's all about making a statement by our local law enforcement folks.

Don't speed and there is no issue.... Speed and complain.....

Jim C nailed it! :) You have nothing to fear if you're playing by the rules. Keep the speed down, put your phone away, and enjoy the beautiful drive out of our incredible neighborhood! Simple!

Since I did not get the Police state memo in my set of closing documents here at the Ranch.....

Whenever a governmental agency targets and profiles a specific group, in this case us in our own neighborhoods, I, and many others, will continue to protest such activities. The Police action here over the past few days, not just in the CC, but along University and Lorraine as well, has been absolutely overbearing and a waste of county resources. Protesting, questioning, and contacting county officials is in no way "complaining".

Did you ever ask whether the CDDs have asked for this? They have to try to cutdown speeding and protect the children.

Lets see.... George complains about the cops, complains about the cyclists..... kind of see a pattern here...

In other words George, you want the law breaking folks to go unpunished.

Actually non of your comments reflect what I said accurately. That's fine though, If you want to interpret that way go for it.

Please explain how the sheriff is targeting a specific group?
    What specific group is that?
Is people who make more than $50K?
Is it people who live in LWR?
Is it people over 50 or under 21? Is it people who drive expensive cars? OR is it people who speed?
    Just whom are they targeting?

You do say in our neighborhoods...OK

You do know they use radar in many places through out the county, state and country.
I have travelled on Moccasin Wallow and have seen radar set up.
I have seen radar set up on 64 after you cross over the river?
I have seen radar on St Rd 70 up and down the road.
I have seen it around many schools on a daily basis.

So who are they targeting with all the other radar set ups?

I still say they are targeting just SPEEDERS.
BTW I would bet most of the drivers on Lorraine and other roads are NOT Country Club, Greenbrook, Summerfield, or other central LWR residents,
but drivers from other communities like River Club, Braden Woods, Grey Hawk Landing, Heritage Harbor, Esplanade, Bridgewater, Central Park, Lost Creek apts., etc....

    So who are they targeting?

I answered your questions in my post, no need to answer you again. We use Lorraine daily as do most residents of the CC's and Greenbrook, so don't make that last bet.

Giving tickets to lawbreakers is not targeting. It's called doing their job.

The way that they carry out doing their job is where their problem begins, midw37.

targets and profiles a specific group, in this case us in our own neighborhoods,
OK so you are saying all of the people in those neighborhoods are being targeted. Is it because they drive on Lorraine or they speed?
See they only get stopped if they speed not if they just drive.

One of the CDDs actually pays to have a deputy come in once a week to calm traffic. Are you going to accuse that board of targeting their residents?

I find it amusing that the board gets so annoyed when they review the number of tickets given out vs warnings and see that warnings far outnumber tickets. If their only goal is traffic calming what do they care about tickets. Power trip I say.

I'm not sure how I can be any clearer. I have no idea how you can jump from my statements to what a Board does?

Power trip by the governmental agency that's for sure!!

How is it a power trip when an elected body tries to make things safer for its residents?

Mid I still can't find out why if you are not speeding you are being targeted?

I think you mixed me up with George. I am all in favor of spe d traps.

All speed traps accomplish is an erosion of respect for law enforcement folks, not much else.
